This new found confirmation that I was experiencing something that others had also experienced led me to develop an interest in this area. We bought a couple of ghost story books and researched the subject on the internet a bit. I had given up all hope of finding a name for this spirit or a reason why it was in my home. We looked at Irish haunted sites and even went to visit some of them.
The most notable ones where Wicklow Gaol and Leap Castle. I thought maybe if I am susceptible to spirits then I will have an experience in these places. Nothing I may have been standing in the middle of, of, well any where as I experienced nothing of a different nature even though I was standing in some on the acclaimed must haunted and active areas in Ireland. or Europe.
We resolved ourselves to living with the spirit as it had done us no harm expect caused a bit of a nuisance by hiding things (often important things).
One interesting facts we found from the books was that my husbands family has a type of "banshee" in the form of a light in the sky (not a crying woman) when a member of his family is about to pass away. He said he had never experienced this. Another interesting fact for my husband was that an ancestor had murdered his wife and she had cursed his family for all time. Nothing exciting came to light about my family.
